Health & Safety

Birmingham Electrical Training (BET) promotes the importance and appropriate use of Health & Safety, to both apprentices while studying at our dedicated training centre, and also to employers during our initial sign up and continued support by our Business Development team.

For any company that trains an apprentice with BET our Business Development Manager undertakes a rigorous sign up process. This process includes the completion of a BET Health & Safety Audit form, copy of current Health & Safety policy and appropriate risk assessments including young person’s risk assessment (if the learner is under the age of 18 and on the apprenticeship program).

All students undertake the 601 (H&S) unit during the first block at college or during the first 6 weeks on day release, this therefore means that during the first 3 months on the apprenticeship programme basic health and safety training is completed. Many employers also apply for ESC/CSCS Cards for their apprentices.

During induction all apprentices receive a Health & Safety presentation on the risks and polices during their time at BET.

If an apprentice has an accident during their apprenticeship, employers have been informed that they would need to report this to BET, Riddor and the Health & Safety Executive.
