Birmingham Electrical Training is committed to provide equality and diversity to all students and staff. It is important that both learners and staff create an inclusive culture so that all apprentices, applicants, staff and employers have an opportunity to work in and towards an environment that is non-discriminatory and that also promotes equality and diversity of its learners and staff in the teaching and learning BET delivers.
Birmingham Electrical Training (BET) has policies and procedures in place for bullying, safeguarding, prevent and equality and diversity.
All learners attend induction presentations and an equality and diversity teaching session is held with one of our tutors to introduce the topic and create a healthy debate surrounding the issues. Weekly topics promoting various aspects of Equality and Diversity are delivered by tutors to encourage debates and promote British Values. Training Officers ensure to discuss relevant Equality and Diversity topics during their reviews with learners to make sure that learners on-site are encouraged to develop as open-minded and accepting individuals.
BET is also in the process of picking out topics within the qualification where E&D issues can be highlighted to learners in the context of the qualification.
BET highlights the issue with employers, and requests a copy of their Safeguarding Policy, Prevent Policy and Equal Opportunities/Equality and Diversity policies as part of the apprenticeship sign up process.
BET also frequently undertakes an Equality and Diversity review in order to help focus efforts on increasing the diversity of the learners.
