Birmingham Electrical Training is excited to announce partnership with Hoddar Education and City & Guilds in delivering Functional Skills in English, Maths and ICT. Since the introduction of the new 2357 apprenticeship framework, it is now a Government requirement to gain a Level 2 in Functional Skills within the apprenticeship.
Although BETs entry requirement states that we require candidates to have A-C Grades at English & Maths and 5 Good GCSE Grades due to the high value nature of our apprenticeship, some candidates need to undertake these qualifications along with those that have not undertaken, ICT GCSE.
The New System which involves undertaking a diagnostic assessment, diagnosing the student’s current capabilities, it then builds a detailed individual learning plan meeting gaps in their knowledge. With support of a dedicated tutor these will be monitored and supported, learners will be required to undertake these away from the centre, although their progress will be monitored and supported by a dedicated tutor, it allows candidates to work at their own pace focusing on individual knowledge gaps. BET introduced the system for English & Maths in November 2013 and will be introducing the ICT from February 2015.
Adam Clayton, Tutor Manager at BET said” This exciting development allows us to dedicate learning programs to the individual learners requirements, in addition allows my tutor staff to monitor and support each students progress”
